There was wide ranging debate on Wellington’s transport, with a large majority wanting to focus on the status of the Johnsonville Railway Line. Chair Daran Ponter and Mayor Andy Foster both said that in its current form they did not consider it to be a Rapid Transit System, as defined of the National Policy Statement on Urban Development. Daran Ponter observed it was important for local residents to make submissions on this if they wanted the two Regional Transport Plans contrary statements removed.
Many thanks to the Khandallah Cornerstone Trust for contributing to hosting this meeting.
